China to Impose New Tariffs on U.S. Goods
China's State Council Tariff Commission announced new tariffs on U.S. imports, effective February 10, 2025. Coal and liquefied natural gas will face an extra 15% tariff, while crude oil, agricultural machinery, and large-engine vehicles, including pickups, will be taxed additionally at 10%. These new duties will be applied on top of existing tariffs, with no changes to current exemptions or tax policies.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, Hubei Civil Aviation processed 7,577.3 tons of cargo and mail, supporting 7,457 flights. At Ezhou Huahu International Airport, cargo flights surged 154% year-on-year to 145, while cargo and mail throughput jumped 280% to 6,100 tons.

CIMC (China International Marine Containers) expects a significant profit surge in 2024, with net profits set to rise by up to 731%, reaching between 2.5 billion and 3.5 billion RMB (341 million to 477 million USD). The boost comes from a recovery in the container shipping sector, with the Red Sea incident extending shipping routes. CIMC's record container production and sales have driven a sharp increase in revenue, while demand in the offshore industry further fuels growth.
Air China Cargo Launches Chengdu-Amsterdam Cargo Route
Flight CA3159, carrying tens of tons of cargo, took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport after over 9 hours. This marks the launch of Chengdu's first intercontinental cargo route of 2025. The new Air China Cargo freighter service connects Chengdu and Amsterdam with four weekly flights, making it the only direct cargo route between the two cities. The service will transport electronics, e-commerce goods, and mechanical parts and marks the operation of Air China's fourth A330F freighter in Chengdu.

Job listings indicate TikTok is hiring for positions in Germany, signaling the upcoming rollout. The service will streamline logistics for sellers by managing storage, picking, packing, and shipping via TikTok's warehouse network.
Eastern Air Logistics Projects Strong 2024 Profits Amid E-Commerce Boom
Eastern Air Logistics expects net profit for 2024 to reach 2.5 billion to 2.9 billion RMB (341 million to 395.56 million USD), a rise of up to 16.56% year-on-year. The company attributes this growth to the boom in cross-border e-commerce and increasing demand for international air cargo, driving higher freight rates. According to IATA, global air cargo demand rose 8.2% in November, extending 16 months of growth, while China's cargo volumes grew 22.1%.
China Rolls Out "Tax Refund Upon Departure" for Overseas Warehouse Exports
On February 6, China's State Taxation Administration announced that goods exported through cross-border e-commerce via overseas warehouses will be eligible for a "tax refund upon departure." Exporters under the "9810" customs code can apply for a tax refund or exemption once goods leave the country, with final tax calculations based on sales.
