SF International Heavy Freight Partners with Amazon's ShipTrack
SF International Heavy Freight, SF's cross-border service for large items, is now a designated carrier for Amazon's ShipTrack. With this partnership, sellers no longer need to input tracking codes manually, allowing faster, easier shipments into Amazon warehouses.
ShipTrack offers sellers a streamlined way to handle logistics for getting products to Amazon's warehouses, with tracking info auto-generated and all delivery steps visible on the seller's "Shipment Overview" page.
AliExpress and Cainiao Expand "5-Day Global Delivery" to 14 Countries
AliExpress and Cainiao are ramping up efforts on logistics experience with an expanded "5-Day Global Delivery" now available in 14 countries, adding places like Italy, Poland, and Japan to the fast delivery service across Europe, North America, and Asia.
For the coming Double 11 shopping festival, AliExpress is doubling its investment, teaming up with Cainiao to ensure fast, reliable delivery, making it the biggest and best shopping experience for overseas customers yet. With Cainiao's support over the past two years, AliExpress has cut its global delivery times by 50%, with key countries now seeing delivery in just 5-7 days.
China Launched Over 120 New International Cargo Routes
By the end of September, China had launched more than 120 new international cargo routes this year, rapidly expanding the global air freight network. The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing reports that, as of September 30, 127 new routes and 370 weekly flights have been added, with 20 new routes and 60 additional flights in September alone.
These new routes connect primarily to Asia (65), Europe (39), and North America (18), with 62 airlines involved —17 from China and 45 overseas. Major exports on these flights include e-commerce shipments, fresh produce, electronics, and auto parts.
Top Logistics Firms SF, Cainiao and Others Featured in ACFIC's "2024 China Top 500 Private Enterprises"
The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) released its "2024 China Top 500 Private Enterprises" list, with JD Group topping the chart for the third consecutive year, with $259.47 billion in revenue, followed by Alibaba at $130.30 billion.
Top logistics firms like SF, Cainiao, YTO, YUNDA, STO, ZTO, and J&T also made the list, with SF ranked 24th at $36.30 billion, Cainiao at 105th with $12.71 billion, YTO at 208th with $8.11 billion, YUNDA at 274th with $6.31 billion, STO at 296th with $5.75 billion, ZTO at 323th with $5.39 billion, and J&T at 325th with $5.37 billion.
In 2023, the top 500 private firms raked in a total of $5.89 trillion, marking a 5.22% increase, with average post-tax profit growing by 2.97% to $475.53 million per company.
J&T Express Sees 30.4% Rise in Parcel Volume to 17.25 Billion
J&T Express released its Q3 2024 financial statement, with parcel volumes reaching 6.239 billion in Q3, up 18.5% from last year, averaging 67.8 million parcels per day. Total parcels for this year's first nine months hit 17.253 billion, a 30.4% increase.
Regionally, in the first three quarters, Southeast Asia led with 3.16 billion packages, up 33%, while China saw 13.887 billion, a 29.8% rise. New markets had 207 million parcels, up 32.6%. In Q3 alone, the company saw strong performance in Southeast Asia with 1.117 billion parcels (+19.1%) and 5.051 billion parcels in China (+18.7%). New markets, however, saw a slight dip with 70.4 million parcels, down 3.2%.
Notably, J&T streamlined its network, reducing partners by 900 in Southeast Asia and 200 in China to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
China Post Reports $66.33B Revenue and $9.90B Profit in 2024 (Jan-Aug)
China Post generated $66.33 billion in revenue and $9.90 billion in profit from January to August this year. Chairman Liu Aili pointed out that the company has focused on building core strengths and speeding up strategic projects with solid results.
Backed by 120,000 postal vehicles, 42 cargo planes, and access to 174 international ports, China Post has bolstered its delivery operations through deeper reforms, improving efficiency and resource utilization. With the launch of its first intercontinental route from Nanjing to Luxembourg and new progress on the U.S. routes, China Post is making big strides in building its own international logistics network.
Taobao Expands "Overseas Free Shipping Zone" to 8 New Destinations
For the coming Double 11 shopping event, Taobao is expanding its "Overseas Free Shipping Zone" to include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. To ensure timely deliveries for overseas customers, Cainiao has ramped up storage and logistics capacity, adding over 10 new distribution warehouses in Guangdong and Fujian, doubling warehouse space from last year, which allows more flexibility and ensure smooth order fulfillment across multiple warehouses during Double 11.
Since Singapore and Malaysia joined the free shipping zone, cross-border parcels have surged. To handle increased demand, Cainiao's two new sorting centers in these regions are underway, expected to boost local delivery capacity by 30%. In Hong Kong, over 1,000 Cainiao self-pickup spots will be available for parcel collection and returns, with 450 open on Sundays and evenings to make things even easier for customers.
In Taiwan, Cainiao has improved logistics with triple the customs clearance capacity from last year and increased weight limits for self-pickups, ensuring a seamless Double 11 shopping experience for Taiwanese customers.
Air China Cargo Launches Guangzhou-Los Angeles All-Cargo Route
On October 13, Air China Cargo launched its "Guangzhou-Los Angeles" all-cargo flight route, with a plane loaded with e-commerce goods departing from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. Operated by a B777 freighter, this new service connects Guangzhou to Los Angeles, a major logistics hub and a gateway for trade in the western and central U.S. This new route will boost long-distance cargo operations at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and strengthen economic ties between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and North America.
JD Logistics Targets 100% Increase in Overseas Warehouses by 2025
JD Logistics is doubling down on its global reach, targeting a 100% increase in overseas warehouse space by the end of 2025. Its main focus is on North America and Europe, where it has established an integrated supply chain centered around overseas warehouses, with one-day delivery available in several regions. As of mid-2024, JD Logistics operates nearly 100 warehouses worldwide, covering 1 million square meters across the U.S., Germany, Netherlands, France, UK, Vietnam, UAE, Australia, and Malaysia.
Moving forward, the compnay will expand routes between China and Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, the U.S., and Europe via Wuhu's air hub to improve cross-border logistics. Now, JD serves thousands of cross-border merchants and customers on major e-commerce platforms, with JD Express available in 80 countries across six continents by the end of the year.
Cainiao Gains Full Control of 4PX
Cainiao recently expanded its stake in 4PX(For Perfect X-border) to 50.9459%, gaining full control of the company. Founded in 2004, 4PX is a Shenzhen-based logistics provider that offers services like express shipping, overseas warehousing, and first-mile solutions for cross-border e-commerce through its global networks. With over 50 warehouses spanning 1 million square meters across major markets like the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe, 4PX serves more than 20 countries.
Warehouse In Cloud Data Research's 2023 report ranks 4PX among industry leaders, alongside Zongteng and Sinotrans, with revenue exceeding 10 billion RMB($1.41 billion). This acquisition will strengthen Cainiao's international logistics capabilities, reinforcing its cross-border e-commerce logistics for Alibaba's global business.
