JD Logistics Unveils First Self-Operated Warehouse in Japan
JD Logistics has officially launched its Tokyo No. 1 warehouse, marking the company's first self-operated overseas facility in Japan and South Korea. The warehouse enables same-day outbound shipments, reducing delivery times by 24 hours compared to the local average in both countries. Looking ahead, JD plans to expand its network there with multiple self-operated overseas warehouses and international routes, aiming to achieve "2-3 day delivery" across the Asia-Pacific within the next 2-3 years.
COSCO SHIPPING Launches New Route to Indonesia
COSCO SHIPPING's new Jin Hai Cruises kicked off its YIX route on December 23, with the first ship departing from Yangpu, Hainan, to Indonesia. The route strengthens China-ASEAN connectivity and will deploy three 1,700 TEU vessels serving key ports in China, Indonesia, and Singapore. The YIX route caters to the expanding global needs of South China's e-commerce sector while supporting Hainan's Free Trade Port development.
Cathay Pacific Sees 15% Increase in Air Cargo Volume in November
Thanks to the boost from machinery and e-commerce, Cathay Pacific saw a 15% YoY increase in air cargo volume in November, carrying 142,601 tons. Cargo revenue ton-kilometers (RFTKs) rose 11.9%, while load factor improved by 1.2% to 62.3% and available cargo ton-kilometers (AFTKs) grew by 9.8%. From January to November, Cathay Pacific's cargo tonnage increased 10.9% to 1.39 million tons, with AFTKs up 8.9% and RFTKs up 4.8%.
Jumppoint's Total Investment Surpasses USD 20 Million
Jumppoint has raised USD 3.5 million in Series A+ funding from existing investor MindWorks, bringing its total funding to over USD 20 million. Founded in Hong Kong in 2020, the company provides comprehensive logistics solutions, including same-day and next-day delivery, cold chain services, multi-temperature transport, international express, domestic delivery, warehouse fulfillment, and freight forwarding.
Jumppoint's digital network serves over 6,000 businesses, handling around 10 million orders annually with 2-3x annual growth. The company primarily ships to Southeast Asia, North America, and South America. With a team of 50, Jumppoint was founded by Samson Ho and his partners, former early members of Uber's Asia team.
SHEIN Participates in U.S. Customs Data Pilot to Boost Transparency
SHEIN has announced its participation in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Section 321 Data Pilot program, which aims to improve the flow of low-value e-commerce shipments while preventing illegal or hazardous products from entering the U.S. By voluntarily submitting detailed import entry information, SHEIN supports CBP's efforts to streamline legitimate trade and increase supply chain transparency. In its first 30 days, all data provided was successfully processed without any issues. SHEIN's involvement highlights its commitment to transparency and compliance with U.S. regulations.
China's Cargo Traffic Posts Strong Gains Through November 2024
From January to November 2024, China's cargo transport continued its upward trajectory. Highway cargo volume increased by 3.3% to 3.81 million tons, while waterway cargo rose 4.6%, reaching 890.46 million tons. Port throughput grew by 3.4% to 1.6 billion tons, and container traffic surged 7.3%, totaling 30.46 million TEUs.
