Pinduoduo Expands Free Cross-Border Shipping to Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea
By the end of 2024, Pinduoduo, China's version of Temu, expanded its free cross-border shipping to Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea, following success in Hong Kong. The service allows merchants to send parcels to consolidation warehouses, where they are inspected, cleared, and delivered to customers.
Pinduoduo offers no-minimum free shipping in Hong Kong and Macau. In Taiwan, the threshold is RMB 49 (USD 6.69), while Singapore, Japan/South Korea require RMB 99 (USD 13.52) and RMB 179 (USD 24.45), respectively. Some Hong Kong users reported weight limits and no pick-up options, but in October 2024, the platform introduced free shipping, with merchants not covering secondary shipping costs from warehouses.
FAR International to Acquire 30% Stake in U.S. Logistics Provider
FAR International announced that on January 3, 2025, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ingrun Holdings Limited, will acquire a 30% membership interest in Advanced Logistics Solutions LLC from Hi5s and Hard 8 for $635,318.4.
The target company, a key supplier for FAR International, operates container freight stations in the U.S. and offers essential services such as pickup, sorting, warehousing, and customs clearance. FAR International, founded in 2022, is a leading cross-border e-commerce logistics provider, offering flexible shipping options through over 30 outlets and a network of 1,100+ suppliers across 220+ countries.
J&T Express Hits New Milestones with 24.6 Billion Parcels in 2024
On January 6, 2025, J&T Express reported a 32.5% YoY increase in Q4 2024 parcel volume, totaling 7.392 billion parcels, with an average daily volume of 80.3 million. Southeast Asia grew 62.5% to 1.403 billion parcels, China rose 27.4% to 5.915 billion, and new markets saw a modest 0.1% increase to 74.4 million parcels. For the full year 2024, J&T Express processed 24.645 billion parcels, up 31%, with a daily average of 67.3 million. Southeast Asia and China drove the growth, expanding 40.8% and 29.1%, respectively.
FedEx Expands Network in Shandong with Faster Transit to Japan
On January 8, 2025, FedEx announced it will optimize its export network in Shandong, improving same-day flight services from cities like Qingdao to Japan, cutting transit times by one day. Shipments sent on Saturdays may not be affected. In November 2024, FedEx also boosted cargo flights from Qingdao to the U.S. and opened a new gateway facility. Qingdao, a key hub for trade in Shandong, saw a 3% YoY increase in imports and exports, reaching RMB 754.72 billion (USD 102.94 billion) in the first 10 months of 2024, with cargo throughput at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport growing 10.5% YoY.
JD Logistics Launches New Shenzhen-Bangkok Cargo Route for E-Commerce
JD Logistics launched a new international route between Shenzhen, China, and Bangkok, Thailand. A full cargo flight carrying cross-border e-commerce goods took off from Shenzhen Airport on January 3, landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok before returning to Shenzhen the same day. The route will operate three flights per week, catering to Chinese e-commerce brands expanding abroad.
Temu to Establish Distribution Warehouses in Kyrgyzstan's Atbashi Logistics Hub
Temu is poised to cooperate with the Atbashi logistics center project. During a presentation in Guangzhou, Naryn Sukhoi Port LLC, one of Atbashi's founders, confirmed Temu's interest in leveraging the region's free customs zone for re-export and logistics development. With a $13.4 billion turnover in Q2 2024, Temu plans to establish distribution warehouses in Atbashi, improving delivery speed, cutting costs, and boosting opportunities for Kyrgyz entrepreneurs. The center is set to offer class A warehouses and infrastructure by 2027.
Zongteng Group Inaugurates Weekly Ezhou-Paris Flight for Cross-Border E-Commerce
On January 6th, Zongteng Group launched its new "Ezhou ⇄ Paris" freighter route with a Boeing B777F departing from Huahu International Airport bound for Paris Charles de Gaulle. The inaugural flight, operated in partnership with China Central Airlines, carried over 92 tons of e-commerce goods, including 124,800 cross-border packages across 58 product categories. The route will operate weekly, boosting Huahu Airport's international cargo throughput by over 30,000 tons annually, with plans to increase to five flights per week focused on e-commerce goods.
China Expands Global Air Cargo Network with 168 New Routes in 2024
According to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing's Aviation Logistics Committee, in December 2024, China launched 12 new international cargo routes, adding over 37 round-trip flights per week, primarily for cross-border e-commerce goods. A total of 168 new international routes were established throughout 2024, further expanding China's global air cargo network.

Lecangs, Loctek's overseas warehousing arm, reported a 262% YoY increase in shipments during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, reaching 400,000 orders. This surge is attributed to Lecangs' smart warehousing solutions, which boosted order processing capacity. Notably, the volume shipped from a single CAP warehouse in Los Angeles during this period matched the total shipments from all Lecangs warehouses in 2023.
Huahu Airport to Launch 20+ New Routes in 2025
On January 7, Ezhou's 5th session of the 9th People's Congress announced plans to expand Huahu International Free Trade Aviation Port, including over 20 new domestic and international cargo routes and a 20% annual growth target for cargo and mail volume. Last year, Huahu added 30 routes, bringing its total to 85—55 domestic and 30 international. The airport ranks 5th nationally in cargo volume, 1st in growth, and 4th globally in freighter takeoffs and landings, with peak daily cargo of 2,000 tons.
China's Postal Industry Tops RMB 1.7 Trillion in Revenue
In 2024, China's postal and express delivery industry reached new milestones, handling 193 billion items and generating RMB 1.7 trillion (USD 231.88 billion) in revenue, up 19% and 11%, respectively. Express delivery accounted for 174.5 billion items and RMB 1.4 trillion (USD 190.96 billion), up 21% and 13%. Cross-border services saw rapid expansion, with nearly 300 overseas sorting centers and 300+ warehouses in total. Additionally, 16 China-Europe mail trains and 25 sea freight lines were launched, driving a 25% increase in cross-border express volume.
